Six campaigns across two decades

The twenty-year record

We walk through every men's World Cup from Germany 2006 to the 2026 tournament in North America. For each campaign you get the coach, the result, the tactical identity, the data behind it and a performance rating. Two Round-of-16 finishes (2006 and 2022) stand against four group-stage exits. And through all of it, one thing barely changes: the style of play stays remarkably stable.

Australia's own possession, by World Cup
The men's side has never controlled a tournament. The one exception, 51% in 2018, didn't turn that ball into penetration.
Goals scored vs conceded, per campaign
Output stays low across the whole period. The 2014 side leaked nine goals in just three matches.
